One of the things I liked using in Void was Militia - normally in scenarios, but it was still fun to pitch them against hardened, trained troops. The Metropolis rulebook does not include stats for them, although I can still imagine bands of armed civilians roaming the city so what I'd like to know is people's opinions on whether militia work with the old Void stats and points (all Cal 0) in a Metropolis game?
Saramin
they could work if you point them oit and make them static for a unit. a bunch of thugs and a punk as a boss type. maybe have auto pistols and can upgrade to auto rilfes and granades...

if someone writes it up We would be glad to put them in INN

I'll think about it....

If you do choose to directly convert the Void rules, bear in mind that Metropolis charges a bit more for basic troops than Void did- I'd estimate that 15pts each would probably be reasonable for Void-style militia.

For Metropolis-style militia, I'd recommend something a bit more generic than we got in Urban War, perhaps something like this:

AS3 SH4 ST4 T4 W1 CD4 SZ2 MV4

Structure: Squad
Unit Size: 4-12
Class: Core (but may account for no more than one third of the units in your force)
You may include a maximum of 1 support model for every three other models.

Militiaman- riot shotgun OR autopistol and combat blade. 4-12. CAL 0. 17pts each
Militia Leader [AS+1]- combat blade and combat shotgun OR gauss rifle. High morale +1. 0-1. CAL 0. 21pts
Firebomber (S)- riot shotgun and hand grenades (improvised firebomb). 0-3. CAL 0. 20pts each

@Martel - Nope, that's too good. Remember that the troops in the game are trained and that militia are basically enthusiastic civilians with guns

I'd give them SH3 ST3 and CD3 and knock the price down accordingly

In all honesty, I'm inclined to agree with you- personally speaking, I much prefer the Void militia rules, which give them AS3 SH3 ST3 and T3 (this last one in particular I approve of- you can't expect an unarmoured Militiaman to be able to absorb as much damage as a Legionairre in lorica segmentata or Marine in armoured chem-suit).

As for the SH4, that was one reason why I gave the Urban War-style Militia riot shotguns rather than autorifles- Militia may have better basic stats under Urban War rules, but I still didn't want them to be truly effective at shooting at any but the closest of ranges (that, and it takes a lot more training to be able to hit a distant target than it does to be able to spray and pray).

If you REALLY must use them why not use them as a Rioting crowed who need to be quelled? use the STA stats and fudge
some equiptment rules, Improvised weapons, firebombs, unit size 4 - 15 ?
Rioting Mob
AS SH ST T W CD SZ MV CAL
3....3..4..4..1...4..2...4......0

Struture : Squad/ Mob Class : Core
Unit Size : 5 - 15

Troop Type.......................... Equiptment...................No/ Unit........................Cost
Rioter..................................Improvised weapon.............4-14.............................17
Gunman....................................Auto gun....................... 0-6...............................?
Firebomber..........................Improvised fire bomb...........0-4................................?
Instigator (CD +1)......................Auto pistol.......................1.................................?

Home Turf
When rolling for Initiative, Rioting mob forces gain +1 modifiers for each 2 surviving mobs in the force. For example a force containing 2 mobs gain +1, a force containing 4 mobs gain +2 etc.
Any other ideas? This is just a quick note , nothing official or even playtested biggrin.gif Any one trys it let me know how it goes, If it works I may put it into my campaign rules.

Cheers
